Shopify's plan is a fixed monthly price. Basic is $39 billed monthly or $29 a month billed yearly, Grow is $105 or $79, Advanced is $399 or $299, and Plus starts at $2,300. A fixed cost only means something per order, so the calculator divides the plan by your monthly orders: a store with 20 orders a month pays far more per order for the same plan than one with 500.
Shopify Payments charges a card rate on each online order: 2.9% on Basic, 2.7% on Grow, 2.5% on Advanced, and 2.25% on Plus, each plus 30 cents. Premium cards such as rewards and corporate cards cost more, from 3.5% on Basic down to 2.95% on Plus, and international cards add 1%. The calculator applies the card rate to the full amount the customer pays, including shipping and tax.
If you take payments through a provider other than Shopify Payments, Shopify adds its own transaction fee on top of that provider's charges: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced, and 0.2% on Plus. Your provider's processing fee varies and is not included in the total.
Apps, themes, a domain, and shipping labels are real costs too, but they vary too much to model. Add a per-order share of them to packaging cost if you want them in the profit figure.

Not as a commission. With Shopify Payments you pay card processing on each order, and with a third-party gateway you pay a Shopify transaction fee of 0.2% to 2% depending on plan. Orders paid through Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, and manual methods such as cash on delivery carry no third-party transaction fee.
Yearly billing saves $120 a year on Basic ($39 vs $29 a month), $312 on Grow ($105 vs $79), and $1,200 on Advanced ($399 vs $299). If you expect to keep the store running for the year, yearly billing is the cheaper route.
On yearly billing, Grow costs $50 a month more and cuts the standard card rate by 0.2 percentage points. That breaks even at about $25,000 a month in card sales; on monthly billing the gap is $66 and break-even is about $33,000.
Premium cards, such as rewards and corporate cards, cost more to process: 3.5% on Basic, 3.3% on Grow, 3.1% on Advanced, and 2.95% on Plus, each plus 30 cents. Choose premium card in the calculator to see the difference on your order.
International cards add 1% to the Shopify Payments rate on every plan. If you also sell in a currency other than your store currency, US stores pay a 1.5% currency conversion fee on those transactions.
Apps, themes, domains, shipping labels, chargebacks, and your third-party gateway fees. Shop Pay Installments also has a merchant fee that Shopify shows only inside the admin, so it is not included.
