Text To Bullet List
Add a bullet to every line of pasted text and drop the blank lines, ready to paste into a caption or listing.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.
What it does
Paste text with one item per line and the tool returns the same items with a • character in front of each. Empty lines are dropped, extra spaces at the start and end of each line are trimmed, and lines that already begin with • or - are left alone so you do not get double bullets.
Social apps and marketplaces rarely offer list formatting, so a plain-text bullet is the practical way to make features, steps, or takeaways scannable. Use it for Instagram and LinkedIn captions, Etsy or Gumroad descriptions, and YouTube descriptions.
How to use it
- 1
Paste or type your items into the Input box, one item per line.
- 2
Check the Output box, where each non-empty line now starts with "• ".
- 3
Click the copy button above Output and paste the list where you need it.
What you get
A read-only Output box with one bulleted line per item, blank lines removed and each line trimmed, plus a copy button. Lines that already start with • or - keep their original marker.
When to use it
- Product feature lists
- Turn a rough list of materials, sizes, and shipping notes into a bulleted block for a shop listing.
- Scannable caption takeaways
- Format the three to five key points of a carousel or Reel caption so they stand out in the feed.
- LinkedIn post lists
- Bullet a set of lessons or steps copied from your notes app before posting.
- Clean up a messy list
- Paste notes with uneven spacing and gaps between items and get a tight list with no empty lines.
Example
Input
Organic cotton Ships in 2 days Free returns
Output
• Organic cotton • Ships in 2 days • Free returns
The blank line is removed and the leading spaces on the second item are trimmed.
Tips
- Put each item on its own line before pasting. The tool splits on line breaks, not on commas.
- Indentation is trimmed, so nested sub-bullets become flat. Add any sub-level markers by hand afterwards.
- Lines starting with * or a number still get a • added, so remove old markers first if you want a single consistent style.
- Keep bullets short in captions: the first few lines show before "more", so lead with the item that matters most.
Questions
Will the bullets show up on Instagram and LinkedIn?
Yes. The • is an ordinary text character, not formatting, so it pastes into captions, bios, and comments on any platform that accepts text.
What happens to lines that already have a bullet or dash?
Lines that start with • or - are kept as they are, so running the tool on a partly formatted list will not create double bullets.
Why did the empty lines between my items disappear?
The tool removes blank lines on purpose to produce a compact list. If you want spacing between items, add it back after pasting.
