Open Graph Meta Tag Generator

Create og:title, og:description, and og:image tags so links look intentional when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Slack.

<meta property="og:title" content="SocialTools Online" />
<meta property="og:description" content="Free social media tools in your browser" />
<meta property="og:url" content="https://socialtools.online" />
<meta property="og:image" content="https://socialtools.online/og.png" />
<meta property="og:type" content="website" />

What this tool does

Open Graph tags control how a link looks when someone pastes it in Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, or iMessage. Missing og:image is why so many shares look like a raw URL.

Fill in the title, description, canonical URL, and a 1200×630 image, then paste the meta tags into your page head. Generate only tags that match the page people will land on.

When to regenerate tags

Update OG tags when you change a headline, swap a hero image, or move a URL. Cached previews on Facebook can lag — use their sharing debugger after you deploy.

X can fall back to Open Graph, but a twitter:card tag still helps if you care how the post looks on X specifically.

Tips

  • Keep important text away from the edges of og:image — some apps crop.
  • Use the same canonical URL you declare in rel=canonical.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need Twitter Card tags?

X can fall back to Open Graph, but a dedicated twitter:card tag gives you more control. Generate OG tags here, then add Twitter Card tags if the preview looks wrong on X.

What size should og:image be?

A 1200×630 image (about 1.91:1) is the usual share preview. Keep important text away from the edges.
