What it does
This is a color-key remover, not an AI cutout tool. You tell it which color the background is (white by default), and it makes every pixel within your chosen tolerance of that color fully transparent. The result is previewed on a checkerboard and saved as a PNG at the image's original dimensions.
It works well on logos, signatures, icons, and product photos shot on a flat backdrop. It struggles with shadows, gradients, and photos where the subject contains the same color as the background, because matching pixels are removed wherever they appear, not only around the edges.
How to use it

Drag the Tolerance slider (0 to 150, default 40) and watch the checkerboard preview update.

What you get
A PNG at the same pixel dimensions as your upload, where every pixel close enough to the chosen color has its alpha set to zero. Edges are hard, with no feathering.
When to use it
- Logo on white to transparent
- Key out #ffffff from a logo exported with a white box so it sits cleanly on a colored website header.
- Scanned signature cleanup
- Remove the paper color from a scanned signature and raise tolerance until the off-white noise disappears.
- Green or blue backdrop shots
- Enter the backdrop's hex value to drop a solid colored background behind a simple product photo.

Tolerance is a straight-line distance in RGB space, so to remove the light grey shadow as well you would need to raise it above 54.
Tips
- Start low and raise tolerance slowly. Too high and white highlights inside the subject, like reflections or white text, disappear too.
- Copy the exact background hex from the color palette extractor if the backdrop is not pure white.
- JPEG noise leaves speckles near the edges; a slightly higher tolerance usually cleans them up.
- Check the result on a dark background before using it, since leftover halos show most on dark colors.
Questions
Why did parts of my subject turn transparent too?
The tool removes every pixel that matches the chosen color within the tolerance, anywhere in the image. White areas inside a white-background product will also disappear. Lower the tolerance or use a dedicated cutout tool for those images.
Can this remove a busy or photographic background?
No. It keys out one color. Gradients, textures, and scenery need an AI-based background remover, which this page does not include.
Can I click on the image to pick the background color?
There is no eyedropper on the image. Use the color swatch picker or type the hex code; the color palette extractor can tell you the exact background hex.
Does the transparent PNG keep my original resolution?
Yes. The canvas is drawn at the uploaded image's full width and height, and the PNG is exported at that size.
